Systems Track Closing Session: Call for Action: State Support for Youth Development

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The youth development field has been organizing and advocating for increased program opportunities for children and youth. After years of fighting to be seen by policymakers, the COVID-19 pandemic shined a bright light on the critical role expanded learning and other youth development programs serve to ensure youth have caring adults in their lives, spaces that meet their dynamic needs and interests, and an opportunity to learn outside of a classroom. A state youth development workgroup met over the past year to develop a set of recommendations to the Washington State Legislature that led to legislative priorities which – if successful – will create new state support and funding for the field. We have a real shot at increased opportunities for Washington’s youth – and we need your help. In this session, we will hear from one of our legislative champions, provide an overview of the workgroup’s recommendations, and explore strategies for mobilizing our field and communities to get these recommendations implemented.

This is the Closing Session for the Systems Leaders Track.
